Governor Bill Ritter, Senator Gail Schwartz, Representative Don Marostica, Representative Buffie McFayden, Senator Betty Boyd, Alliance Center tenants, partners, and sustainability supporters gathered June 4, 2009 for the signing of three green transportation bills. The signings were followed by tours of the Alliance Center and breakfast to celebrate the success of the 2009 legislative session. The hard work of Alliance Center tenants and their partners resulted in 46 bills passed in 2009 that advance sustainability for the state of Colorado. The bills signed by Governor Ritter include:
SB 75, Low Speed Electric Self-Propelled Vehicles Bill allows wider use of "neighborhood electric vehicles," or NEVs. Sponsored by Sen. Gail Schwartz (D-District 5) and Rep. Don Marostica (R-District 51).
HB 1298, Economic Development for Trucking Industry in Colorado ("Green Truck"), Bill provides green economic development incentives. Sponsored by Rep. Buffie McFayden (D-District 47) and Sen. Shawn Mitchell (R-District 23).
HB 1331, Incentives for Efficient Motor Vehicles Bill provides an "income tax credit for hybrids and alternative fuel vehicles". Sponsored by Rep. Sara Gagliardi (D-District 27) and Sen. Betty Boyd (D-District 21).
The Alliance for Sustainable Colorado is continuing to collaborate with partners to promote resource efficient building codes throughout Colorado.
